5 Tips for Boosting Back-to-School Confidence in Teens #ClearlyConfident

I can't believe that the summer is almost over, it seems like it just started! Pretty soon, teens across the nation (mine included) will be heading back to school. Unfortunately, many of them will struggle with confidence. Maybe they are starting high school, feeling like they are in that awkward phase or are just dealing with issues caused by the teenage years (ie: acne). Whatever challenges they might face this school year, help send your kids back to school with confidence using these 5 simple tips!
Be Present
One of the most important things a parent can do to help encourage confidence in their teens is to be available to them. If a teen feels that even their parents do not have time for them, it can really take a toll on their confidence. Make time to be there for your teenager, to ask them how their day went and to truly listen to them when they answer. By being present and active in your teen's life, you are starting them out with confidence before they even step foot on school grounds.
Don't Add Pressure
Sometimes it is us as parents that can make our teens feel less confident. Don't question their choice of outfits, or be so hard on them about getting straight A's all of the time. Giving children a little room to breathe can help teens feel more confident at school. Instead of entering the school year or day with a feeling of failure or defeat, you can help boost them into starting with confidence instead.
Focus on Their Strengths
Focusing on their strengths is one of the easiest things teens can do to build confidence going into a new school year. Are they good at sports? Have them sign up for team try-outs. Are they musically inclined? Have them join band or choir. By focusing on the things they are good at, they will naturally get a boost of confidence. They will also be surrounded by other students who they will already have something in common with, making it easier for them to make friends and feel more confident in school.
Fake It Until You Make It
Encourage your teen to act confident, even if they don't feel that way. In reality, they can "fake it until they make it." By exuding confidence, they will help draw others to them naturally, and will then in turn start to feel confident both in and out of the classroom.
Give Them Tools to Succeed
It may sound silly, but confidence can be bought at the store in a way. There is no need to run out and buy designer threads, but sometimes a new accessory can go a long way in helping your child feel more confident. Similarly, if they struggle with something like acne, purchasing the right products to help combat that problem can make them feel more confident just knowing they are dealing with the issue.
One of the biggest issues children will face in their teen years is acne. The added stress of starting school and sweating from the summer heat can help exacerbate acne and cause a flair up right before school, exactly when teens don't want it to happen. My oldest has been struggling with acne this summer, so I stopped by Walgreens to pick up some Clearasil® products to help him get clear skin fast!
- Clearasil Ultra® Rapid Action Vanishing Treatment Cream – reduces redness and pimple size in as little as 4 hours.
- Clearasil Ultra® Rapid Action Daily Face Wash – a regular cleansing routine that helps to control breakouts.
- Clearasil Ultra® Rapid Action Pads – reduces redness and pimple size to work fast on acne with visible results in as few as 4 hours.
