Just a short, scenic drive from Petoskey, MI. lies a quiet resort that is made for a relaxing family vacation. With spacious condominium accommodations and plenty of on-site activities for children, it is easy to see why Trout Creek Condominiums is a popular accommodation choice for families visiting the area any time of year. The boys and I stayed here in a two bedroom condo for three nights on our current #90DayRoadTrip while exploring the Petoskey Area, and we all loved this property for different reasons.

The Accommodations

Trout Creek Condominiums is a property of, you guessed it, condominiums that are booked similar to hotel rooms. You can book a condo of your choosing for your stay in the area through their website TroutCreek.com. There are various sized condos available, and ours was a two bedroom. Even though it had only two bedrooms, there was more than enough room for all five of us in this two story condominium.




With a large King sized bed and private bathroom downstairs, and two sets of bunkbeds in a loft area upstairs as well as another King sized bed plus trundle bed in another large bedroom and shared bathroom. There were a total of 8 beds available in the two bedroom condo, and that is if no one shared.



Having a full kitchen was also a huge bonus for us, and went a long way towards saving us money on meals. It was the first place on our road trip where it really felt like home. It was also nice to have an included washer and dryer so that we could catch up on laundry at our leisure.


The dining room was a nice place to come together for meals, and the rustic, cabin decor was delightful, particularly in the living room with its beautiful fireplace. Seeing as the nights were quite chilly even during our visit in June, it was nice to have the fireplace available. There was both a balcony downstairs and one upstairs as well, which was a nice place to sit and admire the beautiful grounds of the resort and surrounding area.



One of the main problems we sometimes have with hotel rooms is that it can be difficult to find accommodations that comfortably fit our family of five. That was never an issue at Trout Creek Condominiums where there was plenty of room to spread out.

Resort Amenities

Although there are a wide range of family friendly activities in the Petoskey area, Trout Creek Condominiums comes jam packed with fun amenities for everyone to enjoy. They have not one, but two pools. One outside pool located near the main office, and another inside pool located in a separate area near where our condo was located.



In addition to the pools, there is a free game room with games like ping pong and fooseball as well as tennis and basketball courts. Books and games are available for checkout in the lobby, as well as movies for rent for $3. Other amenities include playgrounds, hiking trails and a fitness center.



If you have someone who loves fishing like my oldest son does, there are two stocked fishing ponds on property and poles can be rented out from the front office for $5 per day. The fish are not used to worms however, as they are fed every day, so feel free to use bread or corn kernels to entice them onto your hook.
