7 Free Ways for Moms to De-Stress

My credit card number was just stolen while I am in the middle of a #90DayRoadTrip alone with four boys. Let's just stop and consider how incredibly stressful that situation is for a person. Alone with no money in a city far from home and with four children who choose that exact day to completely misbehave. I need a redo and stat! So, that got me to thinking. What are some free things that moms can do to de-stress everyday, because I know we all have our own laundry list of burdens to bare. 

1. Enjoy a Beautiful Sunset

Get the kids occupied, or better yet, take them into the backyard or local park with you and lay back on the grass to enjoy a beautiful sunset. There is nothing better than a watercolor painted sky to relax me and put me at ease. 

2. Make Yourself a Soothing Cup of Tea

I swear to you that hot tea has some sort of magical properties. A freshly brewed cup of tea instantly de-stresses me. I can feel my cares melt away with every sip. 

3. Take a Hot Bath

We are camping a lot on our road trips, but when we finally get to a hotel stop, one of my favorite things to do it take a hot bath and soak away my stress. The kids get to watch some TV, and I get to breathe in some aromatherapy scents and drift away from reality for a bit. 

4. Grab a Book

Sometimes the best recipe for relieving stress is taking a break from it. Diving into a favorite book can help you get involved in a different story line for a short time, so that you can escape a stressful situation for a bit. 

5. Enjoy a Treat

I normally don't condone eating away your feelings, but enjoying a special treat once in a while it a great way to de-stress. That doesn't mean you should run for a whole tub of Chunky Monkey, but a dark chocolate square once in a while can work wonders on your mood. 

6. Turn up the Tunes

Music is one of my favorite ways to relieve stress. When I am driving in the car and hit some stressful traffic, the tunes are the first thing I turn to. Blasting my favorite songs instantly soothes me and puts me in a better mood. 

7. Enjoy a Fun Online Game
