3 Ways to Eat Healthier on a Summer Family Road Trip #FamilyTravel #7EFresh
9:03 AMEach Summer the boys and I head out on an epic road trip, this year, we are currently on our #90DayRoadTrip. When you are on the road this long, you can't survive off of normal vacation fare of burgers, fries and chicken strips. That is three months people! You need some proper nourishment. Even those who are on shorter road trips appreciate the ability to have healthier food options on hand, but how do you do it?
1. Bring a Cooler
One of the easiest ways to ensure that you always have healthy snacks and meal options while in the car on a summer family road trip, is to bring a cooler. It doesn't have to be a giant one, just a small cooler is big enough to hold some healthy snack, lunch and drink choices. The most commone meal to eat while driving on a road trip is lunch, so if you pack healthy options in a cooler, you are good to go.
2. Plan Ahead
What happened the last time you waited too long to grab a snack or meal and were starving? Chances are, you probably opted for something unhealthy or just grabbed whatever was convenient. Plan ahead, and know what you'll need. Will you be on the road through breakfast and lunch? Plan where to stop for healthier choices ahead of time, or pack healthy options for each person in your cooler. Planning ahead means that you will always know where to go for healthier options instead of settling for whatever is available at any given moment.
3. Know Where to Go
The best advice for eating healthy on a summer family road trip, is to know where to go for healthier options while on the go. Did you know that 7-Eleven is the largest chain in the convenience retailing industry, with more than 55,800 stores globally? They are dedicated to meeting the needs of each of their guests, and they know that there are an increasing number of people looking for healthier options while on the road with their families.
Since there is likely a 7-Eleven at some point on your road trip route, knowing where they are and what they offer can help you eat healthier on your next road trip. 7-Eleven has an ever expanding Fresh Food section, where road trippers can find Fresh sandwiches, Salads, Fresh cut fruit, Whole fruit, Yoplait Yogurt Parfait with oats and honey granola, and Bistro Snack packs with mini pitas, cheddar cheese cubes, red grapes, celery, baby carrots and hummus.
Their food is made in local kitchens, and then delivered to the store each day for maximum freshness. So, make sure to mark down 7-Eleven on your next road trip route, and you'll save time and eat healthier at your next fill up/lunch stop.
