The 15th annual WhistleStop Bar-B-Que Weekend was held this weekend on the grounds of the Historic Huntsville Depot. BBQ enthusiasts and expert cookers gathered for a cook-off too see who would win the title for best Bar-B-Que. With plenty of incredible food, music and fun, this is one family-friendly you shouldn't miss when it rolls into town each year. What can you do there?

Taste Incredible Food


If you have never had pulled pork or beef brisket that melts away in your mouth it is so tender, or felt the tang of the perfect bar-b-que sauce on your tongue with its notes of sweet and spicy, then you definitely need to stop by the WhistleStop Bar-B-Que Weekend.


There are competitions all weekend long for a variety of cooking levels, including the Shade Tree Competition for non-professionals, the WhistleStop Wing Thing competition for wing lovers, the Kids Q Competition where youngsters can get in on the action and of course, the big guns compete in the KCBS Professional Competition. Along the way, you have the chance to sample, purchase or even judge the offerings from the various teams.

Try Your Hand at Corn Hole


If you aren't familiar with this popular backyard game, you should be. Corn Hole is a family favorite here in the South. At the WhistleStop Bar-B-Que Weekend, you can try your hand at playing Corn Hole, or even compete in the Alabama Corn Hole Championship.

Visit the Kid Zone



If you are visiting with kids, there is plenty of fun to keep them busy at the WhistleStop Bar-B-Que Kid's Zone. Plenty of inflatables, corn hole setups and other activities keep little ones entertained so that you can come and enjoy the festival all day long.


Rock Out with Live Music


If you love live music, then the head on over to the CB&S Stage for some rockin' live music all weekend long. This year, local favorites like The Beasley Brothers and Shelby Lee Lowe entertained visitors during the day before classic rock groups Kansas and Sister Hazel came on to rock out each evening of the festival.

Take In Your Historic Surroundings



If you are first time visitors to Huntsville like us, you can also enjoy your historic surroundings at the WhistleStop Bar-B-Que Weekend. Held on the grounds of the Historic Huntsville Depot of 1860, remnants of this passenger depot mingle in between competitor's booths. Don't forget to look around and take in some of the history surrounding you.
