Boy's Reading Nook Makeover with Sauder #PutTogether

11:22 PM

I have been encouraging the boys to read more independent of or required reading times. Because of this, I wanted to create a reading nook that was both functional and inviting. Luckily, I was asked to take a piece of quality, affordable furniture from Sauder and style it in my own unique way in order to create affordable style using a contemporary furniture piece. Of course, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally create a reading nook in the boy's room.

The piece I chose from Sauder was the Square1 Accent Table that came in a super fun color for a child's bedroom. It sat 14 3.8" tall, which was the perfect height when paired with the pillows I purchased in coordinating colors for the boys to lay down on and snuggle up with a good book. I was really amazed at how easily the Sauder accent table went together. It arrived safely in a well packed box and took only a few minutes to assemble. No need to call in a handyman for reinforcements.

The quality of the Sauder Square1 Accent Table is fantastic too. It was sturdy yet not bulky, and came with a scratch resistant surface that is definitely a must when you are dealing with four boys.

To add some of our own personal style to the Sauder table and our reading nook, I installed some book shelves made from plastic gutters that I purchased at the hardware store, and some baskets filled with various art supplies to help the reading nook play double duty as an art center. I topped it off with an adorable battery operated LED old fashioned lantern that really fits our love of camping and the outdoors.

In the end, the boys loved the reading nook, and they use it all the time. It really wouldn't have been complete without our Sauder accent table. You can find it and many of the other pieces personally styled by other bloggers, featured in the Sauder Lookbook. I encourage you to stop by and get some inspiration from the Lookbook, there are some amazing ideas in there!
