9:25 AMWant a healthy breakfast the says "I Love You?" These delicious and easy to make heart-shaped pancake skewers with strawberries and fresh whipped cream are the perfect addition to your Valentine's Day morning meal. Check out the recipe below, and make them for the ones you love this year. P.S. Kids love food on a stick!
Heart-Shaped Pancake Skewers
Ingredients:
8 oz Strawberries
Pancakes:
1 cup Flour 2 tbsp Sugar 2 tsp Baking Powder 1 tsp Salt 1 beaten Egg 1 cup Milk 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
Whipped Cream:
1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream 2 tsp Sugar Instructions:
Step 1: Wash your strawberries and hull them. This can easily be done by sticking a straw down the middle. This gives the strawberries a heart shape.
Step 2: Slice strawberries into heart-shaped slices and set aside.
Step 3: In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
Step 4: In a separate bowl whisk together milk, egg and oil.
Step 5: Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix them until they're smooth.
Step 6: Heat a lightly oiled griddle or pan over medium high heat. Pour 1/4 cup batter onto the griddle for each pancake. Brown on both sides.
Step 7: Use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
Step 8: Whip cream and sugar until stiff peaks form, then transfer to piping bag.
Step 9: Alternate pancake slices and strawberry slices on a skewer. Top with additional strawberries and some fresh whipped cream. You can use cookie pop sticks instead if you are making these for little ones and want to avoid sharp points.
