Cabana Bay Beach Resort - A Kid's Perspective #FLBlogTrip #FamilyTravel
9:07 PMLast month I shared with you a review of my stay as an adult at Universal's newest and first value hotel, Cabana Bay Beach Resort. I enjoyed my time there so much, that I knew I had to return with the boys, and soon. So, last week the boys and I enjoyed a three night stay at Cabana Beach Resort, and it was interesting to see it through their eyes, and to see the things that they noticed that I never had. That's why, this post is going to be written with their help to share Cabana Bay Beach Resort with you from a kid's perspective.
The Decor
The boys were quite taken with the decor at Cabana Bay Beach Resort much the same as I was when I went alone. The bright colors, fun themed music and retro design just draws you in. Jase my youngest called it an "Awesome paradise of colors." As a parent, I love that it gives me a chance to share some of the things that I grew up with with them. There are retro cartoons, commercials and shows that play in the seating area of the hotel's main restaurant, the Bayliner Diner. They also enjoyed the vintage cars that are set up outside of the Bayliner Diner doors.
The Room
Rather than trying ton write and tell you what the boys though of the rooms at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, it is much easier to show you. Joshua my oldest put together a video for you to tour our family suite. Check it out below.
With two queen sized beds, two large flat screen TV's, a kitchenette and three separate bathroom areas to get ready in, the family suite at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the perfect solution for larger families. The kids loved that the TV's could access YouTube to watch Minecraft videos, especially since their mean mom doesn't let them have electronics when we travel.
Activities
Universal's Cabana Bay Beach Resort is full of activities that kids naturally gravitate too. In fact, we spent two whole days of our stay at the resort itself, and were able to fill full days with fun without anyone getting bored. Jayden stated that he loved the lazy river, "it was so fun, it had waterfalls and guns that you could shoot water at other people with. The Lazy River Courtyard features a zero entry pool in addition to the lazy river. You are free to float without a tube, or tubes are available for purchase starting at $3.
The Cabana Courtyard is where we spent the majority of our time. The Cabana Pool has an iconic dive tower in the middle, with fun water slide and waterpark play area for the kids in the center. The large zero-entry pool is fun for everyone, and the included free life vests and life guards are a godsend for parents' frazzled nerves. Also included in the Cabana Courtyard is a sandy beach area with various games. Ping pong was a huge hit with the boys. Night time movies take place in the lawn in this courtyard too.
Although we did not get a chance to try it out this visit, the Cabana Bay Beach Resort features Galaxy Bowl, a 10 lane bowling alley that families can have a ball at. Joshua was intrigued with the Jack LaLanne Fitness Studio, and was eager to show off his muscles.
Dining
We ate in our room a lot on this visit to the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, but we did take a tour of the Bayliner Diner, the main restaurant at this value resort, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a food court style atmosphere. We also stopped in for a visit to the frozen yogurt toppings bar one night, to pick up a treat.
The Hideaway Bar and Grille is also available for diners in the Lazy River Courtyard, a Starbucks is open just off the lobby area, and the Atomic Tonic Bar is the perfect stop for parents in the Cabana Courtyard.
With early entry to the Universal Orlando park for Cabana Bay Beach Resort guests, provided bus transportation to the park and great value rates, this resort is the perfect choice for families planning a trip to visit Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure. To plan your visit or check rates, visit Universal Orlando's website.
Thank-you to Cabana Bay Beach Resort for hosting us, all opinions are our own.
