ReplyDeleteIt was the year after my mom passed - i was sad and in a panic over what to do with just me and my daughter. My aunt then came up to spend the holiday with us. It is now tradition and we keep adding on with family and friends joining us!

Thanks for the giveaway…my favorite Thanksgiving experience was the first time my newly married sister hosted our family’s get-together; naturally, she cooked the turkey without removing the plastic bag that contained the giblets, making it inedible. We ordered out for Chinese food & ate it with the side dishes, which were delicious.
ReplyDeletelast year i thought i missed Thanksgiving because of work. My friend (and coworker) and I came home to our friends having saved us Thanksgiving leftovers and we all had a vegan (the cook is vegan) turkey dinner and pie. It was so sweet to be thought of.

ReplyDeletemy favorite Thanksgiving experience has been these last few holidays since I've been away (moved to another state) It just seems to mean more when I finally come back to my mom's house and celebrate with the rest of the family. I guess growing up I took Thanksgiving for granted.

The year I spent Thanksgiving with my Aunt, Uncle and cousins at Sea World while they visited Orlando (and I was attending college in Florida) was definitely memorable! This one will be a great one, too, as it's the first Thanksgiving my daughter will spend with my parents, and the first Thanksgiving we've shared together (due to work moves) in 8 years!

ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago, I was working in a research hospital. There were young doctors and scientists from all over the world working there. Many had no family in the area, so my family invited whoever wanted to come to join us for Thanksgiving in our home. We had a connection at work and had the opportunity to eat together, have some ethnic dishes donated by some of the attendees as well, and meet their little families. We had the best time ever and my kids learned a lot about other cultures.
ReplyDeleteI love watching the parade and then having lunch, enjoying a nap and then going for a walk to get ready for round two! It happens each year! Themomjen@gmail.com

ReplyDeleteMy very first Thanksgiving after I moved away from home and my family came to visit me for the holiday. I had never prepared an entire holiday meal by myself for so many people. I made dish after dish after dish and had them all laid out on the sideboard so everyone could help themselves. Everything was perfect. Or so I thought. When carving the turkey I discovered that I had cooked the turkey with the bag of giblets and neck and such still inside. We all had a good laugh. Still. Best Thanksgiving ever! missiefaye at yahoo dot com
