DIY Fall Fabric Pumpkin Garland

10:32 AM

This is my favorite time of year. Why? Because there are so many holidays and happenings this time of year. Most of all, it gives me a chance to decorate the house. Unfortunately, I don't have a huge budget for decor, so I try to make as much as I can myself. I have seen adorable fabric pumpkins all over the place, and just knew I wanted a garland of them to decorate my shelves with. Check out this easy tutorial to see how you can make one of your own.

Materials:

Twine
Cinnamon Sticks
Paper Bags
Fabric of your choosing
Scissors
Thinner twine or string
Ribbons or other embellishments (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1: Cut some cinnamon sticks into small pieces. You can get about 4 small pieces out of one cinnamon stick. These will serve as the stems for your fabric pumpkins.

Step 2: Cut a small square out of your fabric.

Step 3: Ball up a piece of paper bag, and place it in the center of the fabric square.

Step 4: Gather the fabric up around the ball of paper bag, and place a cinnamon stick in the center at the top. Secure the whole thing closed with a piece of twine. Leave a few inches of twine hanging off of one end.

Step 5: Repeat steps 1-4 until you have your desired number of fabric pumpkins.

Step 6: Tie your fabric pumpkins to a larger piece of twine or rope using the small piece of twine you left hanging off of each one in step 4.

Step 7: Use hot glue or string to add an additional embellishments to your garland. We hot glued some felted acorns to our garland, and tied some ribbons around the brown pumpkins to make them stand out.

That's all there is to it. I love how versatile this craft is, and how it allows for you to be as creative as you want to be.

  10. Ugh, I wish I was at all creative. I think this is really neat. Every year we put up one of those big cinnamon brooms. It makes my mom INSANE. She hates it so much and complains about it. She buys us other things to keep us from putting it up. She buys us pretty bows to put ON the cinnamon broom. It's fun. That's my entertainment for like, 3 months.
