One of the places I have always dreamed of going is London. It is a city rich in history, culture and plenty of family fun any time of year, but no time of year brings out the best in London than the Christmas season. London really rolls out the red carpet for this holiday season, and there are a host of family friendly activities to be found throughout the city. Check out our tips below for the best London Christmas attractions, treats and accommodations for families.

Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park



There is endless family fun at this free-to-enter event at London's Hyde Park. The Winter Wonderland has Zippos Circus, Cirque Beserk, an observation wheel, ice skating the Magical Ice Kingdom and more. Purchase some tokens for rides, wander the Angels and Yuletide Market and don't forget to stop by the Bavarian Village for some delicious German treats before you leave. Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park is open November 21st to January 4th.

Hogwarts at Christmas



If your children are Harry Potter fans, then Hogwarts at Christmas held at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London - The Making of Harry Potter is a "must do" London Christmas attraction. Marvel at the model Hogwarts castle that was used in the making of the Harry Potter movies as it is blanketed in special effects snow, and take a tour of various sets as they are adorned with holiday decorations. Hogwarts at Christmas takes place November 14th through January 1st and costs £59 for adults and £54 for children.

Ice Skating at the Natural History Museum



What is more magical than ice skating during the holiday season? Enjoy this spectacular ice skating rink with 80,000 bright twinkling lights located right in the heart of London in front of the South Kensington Museum. Take in the beauty of the 40-foot tree, and visit the Christmas Chalet for some delicious chocolate treats. The Ice skating rink at the Natural History museum is open October 30th to January 4th and tickets are £12.65 for adults and £8.80 for children.

Christmas at Trafalgar Square



Home to the London's most famous Christmas tree, the iconic pine tree is setup in Trafalgar Square each year as an annual gift from Norway. In addition to the lighted tree, guests to London's Trafalgar Square at Christmastime can enjoy classic carols such as Deck the Halls and the Holly and the Ivy on the air throughout the evening. Christmas at Trafalgar Square runs from December 8th to December 23rd and free to the public.

Christmas at Kensington Palace


From November 30th to January 6th, families can enjoy Christmas at Kensington Palace. The palace sends visitors back in time to the days of William the III in 1699, with classic holiday decorations and 17th century activities and games. While you're there, treat yourself to a delicious lunch or afternoon tea. Children will love the chance to participate to become king or queen for a day and fully take in the Christmas of a time long past!

Winterville at Victoria Park



New to the city this year, Winterville at Victoria Park offers a veritable winter wonderland to visitors. From a covered outdoor ice skating rink to romantic horse drawn carriage rides, there is something for the whole family at this incredible winter event in London. A roller disco with live DJ's will really liven up your Christmas mood, while Santa's Grotto will welcome young visitors who wish to relay their list to the big man himself. Open from December 2nd to December 31st and is free to enter, but activities will have varying fees.
