We are a home of many pets. In fact, we have 10, and two of those are indoor cats. Having multiple cats can be a lot like having multiple kids at times. They can be stinky, messy and sometimes they don't get along. That said, we have a few ways that we go about living life with multiple cats that makes things easier for everyone.

Give Them Their Own Space

One of the most important things to do when you have multiple cats in the same home is to make sure they have their own space. Sarah our younger cat loves to sleep on top of the kitchen cabinets or the closets, while the elder cat Izzy prefers to be perched on top of dressers, in window sills and occasionally on the bed. Giving them their own personal space and not confining them to the same area ensures they get along well with each other and other members of the home.

Choose a Good Litter

With 10 animals in the home, odor control is on the top of my daily "to do" list. I don't want guests thinking they walked into a barn when they come in my house. That is why I love Fresh Step® Litter. We are long time users of Fresh Step®, as it really does help eliminate the odor that comes with having multiple cats and boys who may not remember to clean the litter box each day.

I recently stopped by Target to pick up some of the new Fresh Step® Fast Lightweight Extreme litter. Target is teaming up with Fresh Step® to offer special in-store displays demonstrating how the new Fresh Step® Lightweight Extreme litter is 30% lighter than the original! This new litter still provides the same great odor control, absorption and clumping performance of the Fresh Step® litter you know and love, just with a lighter weight so that it is easier to carry!

Make Them Part of the Family

Another great way to welcome multiple cats into your home is to make sure they feel like part of the family. Spend individual quality time with them, and have fun with them. Nothing says "we love you" like a paper cat mustache. Right?
