The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park #70DayRoadTrip #Travel
6:00 PMNorth of Fishing Bridge in the heart of Yellowstone National Park lies the Canyon area of the park. Home to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, this area has been a favorite with travelers, Native Americans and outdoor enthusiasts for years. The rainbow of colors demonstrated throughout the ribbons of rock, stark white snow and tinted waters mesmerize you with their vibrant show.
On our recent visit we took the trail to the Brink of the Lower Falls. This trails is strenuous, and very steep with many switchbacks, but the feeling of standing virtually on top of the 308 foot high lower falls is astounding. The colors of the Canyon were formed when hot water reacted on volcanic rock. The result is a a real life view that appears to have come right out of a watercolor painting.
The Upper Falls are only 109 feet high, but are still impressive with their rushing waters. Views of the Upper Falls can be gained from the Brink of the Lower Falls trail too. If you decide to do the trail, go early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid crows on this popular trail.
Have you been to the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, what did you think?

ReplyDeleteSome photos looks like paintings to me (1st and 4th photo)
Thanks Lili. I was testing out a new technique with my camera where it would make the water look as though it was flowing and not just standing still. I am pretty happy with how it turned out.
