My Top 5 #Travel Packing Tips
10:00 PMI travel a lot. Because of this, I have developed certain habits and preferences when it comes to packing throughout the years. The tips help to save me time, make sure I don't forget anything and keep me presentable whether I am off on a camping trip in the middle of nowhere or business meeting.
1. Make a List
I know you have heard me say it before, and I will say it again. I am a huge fan of list making, because short of forgetting to make the list, it is virtually impossible to forget something you need when you do. Before a trip, I sit and think of everything I might need. Then, I got over the list and eliminate anything that is not essential. That final draft of the list is what I make sure I check off as I pack.
2. Roll Instead of Fold
This is a trick that another traveler told me about. Rolling your clothes instead of folding them helps to minimize wrinkles and helps you pack more in your bag. You may need to experiment with how you roll them, and some things like bulky jeans don't take well to being rolled, but most items can and should be to help save space.
3. Pack Ziplock Bags
There is no way I could even tell you how many times Ziplock bags have come in handy on a trip. I put my toothbrush inside it to help keep it clean. I put lotions and shampoos inside them to protect in case of spills. I also use them to pack up wet items like swimsuits when they haven't had time to dry before returning home.
4. Purchase a Suitcase with an Expandable Top
There are certain suitcases that come with a separate zipper that you can undo in order to expand the top of the bag further. If I am going on a trip where I know I might be returning with several extra items, I leave the at its normal setting and pack my clothes. Then, when it is time to return home, I unzip the expandable top, and instantly have room for the extra items. In most cases, the expanded top still meets carry on standards, so I save on having to check a larger bag.
3. Pack Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus Spray
When traveling, Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus Spray is a must. I hate ironing. I just won't do it, but I also hate walking around looking like a wrinkled frumpy mess. What's a girl to do? Purchase some Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus Spray, that's what. This stuff is a life saver, I'm telling you. No, it is not going to get every single tiny wrinkle out, but it does a pretty dang good job, and makes you presentable in just a couple of minutes. See the difference for yourself below.
I normally will spritz my clothing with it first, and then hang the items up while I take a shower to help steam out any remaining wrinkles. Worried about how you will carry it on a plane with you? Easy peasy. They sell small travel sized spray bottles at the dollar store. Just pick one up, put some Downy Wrinkle Releaser Plus in it, and you have a travel iron in a bottle.
