I'm not sure what I expected when I saw the Badlands of North Dakota, but I am pretty certain it was not what I actually found when we arrived there. In the little town of Medora lies the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Here, we came across a scenic drive that took us through several overlooks of the Badlands of North Dakota. The rugged landscape full of jagged rocks, prairie grasses and painted colors was breathtaking. I won't talk too much though, I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.










Where To Stay

Theodore Roosevelt National Park South Unit has a campground known as the Cottonwood Campground. When we visited there was a lot of construction within the park, and a nearly 1 hour wait to turn left to the scenic drive from the campground while waiting on flagmen, so you might want to check on the status of the construction before visiting. Campsites are $10 per night in peak season, and $5 per night in off-season.
