Captain's Quarters Beachfront Resort in Myrtle Beach

The Captain's Quarters Resort in Myrtle Beach is affordable and packed with family friendly amenities! #travel #familytravel

I was a guest of the Myrtle Beach CVB, but all opinions are my own.

So, your headed to Myrtle Beach and your looking for the perfect place to stay. Somewhere just steps from the beach, with amazing views from the room, plenty of amenities and extras to keep the kids occupied. If that sounds like your idea of a perfect hotel, then Captain's Quarters Resort in Myrtle Beach is the place for you! We recently spent four nights at this resort, and although the weather was less than cooperative most the time, we still had plenty to do thanks to a resort that is packed with fun amenities.

Can I be honest for a moment? When I went to the website and saw the special for rooms under $40 per night for the month of March, I cringed a little. I thought there was no way this place could possibly be nice and offer everything it claimed to for such a low price, but it does! The Captain's Quarters resort was comfortable, affordable and most of all, fun.

The Room

There are 17 different room types available at the Captain's Quarters Resort, from smaller efficiencies with interior views to huge ocean view two room suites. We were in an Angle Oceanfront Suite during our stay, and the view was fantastic, even from the second floor.

The Angle Oceanview Suite features one double bed in a small room by the front door, a kitchen area with stove and full-sized refrigerator, a bathroom, king sized bed next to the living room, and a pull out couch in the living room itself. It has a private balcony that provides a 45 degree partial oceanview, and a view overlooking the shipwreck lagoon pool.

The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is a huge money saver, and my 12 year old enjoyed getting the small room all to himself. One note, there can be quite a bit of noise with people carrying on in the hallway outside the front door at night and in the early morning, so the bed in the small room by the door is not ideal for light sleepers.

Amenities

Amenities is where the Captain's Quarters Resort shines above the rest. I mean, it has a bowling alley on the sixth floor! Yep, you heard me right, there is a full-sized bowling alley on the sixth floor, complete with 20 AMF bowling lanes, an arcade and bar. You get one free game of bowling each night you stay at the hotel, and shoe rental is only $2 per person. This was a great option for us on our first night there, since it was raining.

Because of the cold weather and rain the first few days of our trip, the indoor lazy river was a huge hit with the boys. At 232 feet, it is just long enough for them to enjoy floating along. Of course, there is also an indoor pool, kiddie pool and hot tub.

In fact, there are 15 water features at Captain's Quarters including the incredible shipwreck lagoon kid's waterpark full of interactive water fun kids are sure to enjoy.

Looking for a less crowded place to swim? The Tower Outdoor Pool overlooking the ocean is the perfect retreat for those who want quiet, while the Island Pool is great for families looking for fun. The nearby hammocks and Soggy Dollar Pool Bar round out the fun down on this pool's deck.

Seasonal dining is available at both the Soggy Dollar Pool Bar and Vista Nine, located on the resort's 9th floor, while year round dining is available just next to the resort at Loco Gecko. We ate at Loco Gecko two nights of our trip, and the food is both affordable and delicious.

Location

This resort is on the beach, literally. You leave the pool deck and in just a few steps you are standing in the ocean. There are chairs available for rent throughout the day and gorgeous views of the beach in both directions. The 2nd avenue pier is only minutes away, as are many family attractions. Most popular attractions in the area are within a short 5-10 minute drive of the resort.

Value

Rates at the Captain's Quarters Resort are always changing due to seasons and availability, but you can guarantee that they will be affordable. We extended our trip an extra night, and I paid $83 for a night in our deluxe Angle Oceanview Suite during Spring Break. Regular rooms and interior views are available for even less. I encourage you to view the Captain's Quarters website for current rates and specials!
