Lytia (Cocoa Brown, left) and Hillary (Amy Smart, right) in Tyler Perry's The Single Moms Club

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Lionsgate. I received promotional item and a prize pack as a thank you for my participation.

I have been paying the bills and raising the boys mostly alone for a long time now, hence our massive 50 and now 70 day solo road trips. Being a single mom is nothing that is new to me. It's hard, and there were times I didn't know how I would make it from day to day, but that's when I leaned strongly on the support of friends and family around me. That is why I related so well to "The Single Moms Club" starring Tyler Perry.

We all have that close knit group of friends that we can go to for support. For some, it is a large group, and for others like myself, it is just a few people. Since I started blogging, I have had the great fortune to meet some amazing women who I am so lucky to call my friends. Although we may not be able to see each other face-to-face, we talk online, and I know they are there for me if I need to vent or could use some input and help.

That is the premise of The Single Moms Club movie. Honestly, being a parent is hard, but being a single parent is overwhelming. That is why I love the idea of this movie so much. It showcases the struggles that single moms go through without hiding the "hard stuff." So what's it about? In the midst of all of their children getting into an incident together at school, five moms find themselves thrust together and figure out they have a lot more in common than they might have thought. The decide to start the "Single Moms Club" as a way to support each other.

You have to watch the trailer. This movie is directed by and stars Tyler Perry as well as Amy Smart, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Cocoa Brown, Zulay Henao and Nia Long, trust me when I say, it is not sad or depressing. In fact, there are several times I caught myself giggling, just from the trailer. Go ahead, check it out!

Now you see why I say that the Single Moms Club is the perfect girl's night out movie. Even if you aren't a single parent, it is a fun laugh filled movie about women banding together, and that is something we all can relate to. The Single Moms Club comes out in theaters March 14th, and I will be in line to see it for sure. Who's going to join me? You can check out the newest info about the movie on the Single Moms Club Facebook page!

  3. I am definitely eager to see this movie. I was a single parent for a period of time, and I have to agree that it is one of the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I can't imagine doing it with more than one child. (I've tried to imagine being a single mother of my three kids, and I don't know if I could handle it.) My hat goes off to you!!

I haven't come across but one or two Tyler Perry movies I didn't like (they were his plays/not movies!) I am hooked on #TheHavesandHaveNots show on Own.
