How to Get Started Crafting - #ImBornTo
2:13 PMI have been crafting my whole life, but that is mostly due to a mom who was a big crafter herself. Ironically, she is big into sewing and quilt making, and I don't know how to use a sewing machine to save my life. I do a wide range of crafts, but really love DIY decor. It came as a shock to me a while ago when I learned that not everyone grew up doing crafts, and that some people just have no idea where to start when it comes to crafting. So, I put together an #ImBornTo craft Ebay collection as part of their Curate for a Cause campaign to help the March of Dimes, and thought I would share some tips on how to get started crafting.
Take a Class
If you are new to crafting, sometimes the best thing you can do is take a class on a type of craft you are interested in creating. Craft stores and community centers often offer free craft classes on everything from Pinterest inspired crafts, to crocheting and even sewing.
Form a Group of Crafting Friends
A while back, scrapping groups and parties were all the rage. If you get a group of crafty friends together, everyone can share tips and help each other on their way to learning different types of crafts. Maybe you like DIY decor and your friend is a pro at knitting, you can get together and swap secrets to learn something new.
Get Inspired!
Even I am not crafty enough to just magically come up with ideas all by myself most of the time. I will spend hours on Pinterest or riffling through copies of old magazines to get inspired and come up with a new craft idea. Find a few ideas, start with the one that looks easiest, and go from there.
Purchase Good Quality Supplies
Really, crafting comes down to having the right supplies. I have spent years amassing a great collection of supplies that I can go to whenever I feel the urge to craft. In fact, I just got done reorganizing them in a dresser I redid with chalk paint. Check it out!
Right now, Ebay has a campaign going to help the March of Dimes. Each time an Ebay collection is created using the hashtag #ImBornTo in the title, Ebay will donate $1 to the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes is an organization dedicated to helping women have full term pregnancies, and is a cause close to my heart. That's why, I took the opportunity to create an #ImBornTo craft board so that I could share all of my favorite craft products with you, and help out a great cause.
Check out my #ImBornTo craft board below, just give the image a click.
With the products inside that collection, you can create great DIY decor craft projects like these that I have shared on my blog in the past.
You may think you don't have a crafty bone in your body, but with the simple tips above and some good quality supplies, you will find yourself crafting adorable decor in no time! Stop by Ebay to create a collection on crafting or anything else you are passionate about. It will help the March of Dimes, and you could even win a $5,000 Ebay shopping spree! Not sure how to make one? Check out this tutorial on Ebay, just be sure to use the #ImBornTo hashtag in you title!
