DIY Yarn Pom Pom Flowers
10:07 PMWe've already established that I like to decorate the house for each holiday and change of season. I don't have a big budget to work with though, so I am always looking for ways to decorate on a budget. The other week I shared a tutorial for a pom pom yarn wreath, and since then I have had a lot of fun experimenting with yarn pom poms in a variety of other ways. This time, I just made some smaller pom poms from some thin red yarn I had, and attached them to twigs from the front yard to make some shabby chic Valentine's flowers for the living room.
Materials:
Yarn
Scissors
Twigs
Hot Glue
Vase for displaying
Instructions:
Step 1: Wrap your yarn around two of your fingers about 100 times and cut the loose end.
Step 2: Cut another piece of yarn about 6 inches long and place it through your fingers around the center of the bundle of yarn you wrapped around your fingers in step 1.
Step 3: Slide the yarn off of your fingers carefully, and tie a knot around the center of the bundle of yarn with the six inch piece of yarn from step 2. You can see the photos for a better idea of how to do this.
Step 4: Hot glue a yarn pom pom to the top of a twig. Repeat these steps to make as many as you like and then display in a pretty vase.

What a simple project!
ReplyDeleteThat's cute. And that way I wouldn't have to worry about watering the flowers!
ReplyDeleteGreat Valentine's craft to do with the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteI have some sticks in a pitcher on top of the piano. They need pom-poms for V-Day!
ReplyDeleteGreat craft! Although I probably couldn't make the pom pom turn out as well as you did. :)
ReplyDeleteVery, very cute! I was just thinking of making a wreath with red and pink yarn..
