Shopping for Holiday Surprises at RadioShack
11:32 AMI participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for RadioShack. I received a gift card to facilitate a shopping trip and promotional item as a thank you for participating.
My boys have become very thorough list makers over the years. So, when you ask them to make up their Christmas wish list, there is always a very detailed and itemized list. Sure, it may only have 2 or 3 things on it, but it will be specified down to the serial number on the product! This has made it increasingly hard to surprise them each year. That's why I always try to find one wow gift that they weren't expecting to really bring the "surprise" back into the Christmas morning gift opening ritual. This year, I had the opportunity to shop at RadioShack, and I found the perfect surprise gift for my youngest there.
Let me be honest for a minute. Before I was invited to shop at RadioShack, it had been ages since I had stepped into one of their stores. It seems like they have been swallowed up by bigger stores around here, and I just didn't notice them. Well, I was impressed with how open and organized the store was. The signage was great too, and I had no problem finding the price for things I was looking at. I hate being in a store where you can't find prices for the products when you're shopping.
This clean layout is likely due to the huge update RadioShack is conducting of their stores. By the end of this year, RadioShack will have more than 100 concept and brand statement stores open and improvements will have been done to each of their 4,300 stores nationwide. Close to 2,000 stores have already completed a "reset" and received new paint, signage and merchandise updates to bring in new products and categories.
My first shopping trip at RadioShack in a long time went off without a hitch and I not only found the perfect surprise gift for my youngest, but also two smaller gifts for my two oldest boys in a matter of minutes too. What did I end up getting?
This is the big surprise gift for my youngest, and I do mean big! This thing is quite possibly the most massive remote control truck I have ever seen, and he is going to freak out over it. He didn't have a remote control truck on his list, but he loves all things cars and trucks, and I don't think he even knows that ones this big exist!
I did a dry run of the store a few days before Black Friday to check out what they had. My two oldest sons were with me and Jordan was instantly drawn to this. It looks like a pretty neat little toy and it's a great price, so I picked one up in his favorite color.
My oldest loves anything having to do with fish. He is getting a whole 20 gallon fish tank setup for Christmas, but he also loves Hexbugs so I wanted to get him one of these as a small extra present. They have a ton of Hexbugs, but none like this that swim. I think this will be a big hit with all the boys.
RadioShack has so much more than toys, that is just what I happened to be looking for during my visit. They also have great deals on some of the hottest electronic and technology related gifts too. You can visit the RadioShack Holiday Hub for the latest deals and hottest products, or to help get gift ideas for that special someone on your list!
What surprise gifts have you picked up this holiday season?

We used to love shopping at Radio Shack when I was younger. I haven't thought of it in a while. I'll need to check and see if there are any locations near me now!
