When you have kids, the holidays are a time of merriment and wonder. As a mom, I am always looking for ways to pack as much fun into the holiday season as possible. The boys will only be little once, and I want to create as many great memories with them as I can before they are grown and gone. That's why when I decided to do a spur of the moment North Pole Breakfast this year, I headed down the road to our local Dollar General to pick up some fun and festive holiday decorations for the table. Creating the perfect festive holiday tablescape with Dollar General Holiday décor is easy and can be done in a few simple steps.
Don't Be Afraid of Color
This type of holiday tablsescape is geared towards kids and having fun. Translation, the more color the better. Kids love anything bold and bright, so feel free to coordinate, but don't foget the color. I went with a red, green and white traditional color scheme for our tablescape, but feel free to mix it up and get creative!
Include Contrasting Patterns for Added Interest
Contrasting patterns can often be a big no no when decorating, but when done subtly, it can add interest to a holiday tablescape. Dollar General had this great striped holiday table cloth that said "Believe" on the side of it. Perfect for a magical North Pole breakfast. I paired it with some adorable plastic plates that had a pattern of holiday treats all over it. By going with a plate that also had a pattern, it really made them pop instead of blending into the tablecloth.
Add Fun Accents
What is a festive holiday table without plenty of fun? I found some mason jar glasses with handles that added a fun flair, as well as some serving trays in the shape of Santa's head and a Christmas tree. Dollar General also had some adorable felt treat bags with elves, Santa, snowmen and reindeer on them that I got for each boy and filled with a few treats to brighten up the table too.
Following a few easy steps and taking a trip to your local Dollar General is all you need to create a festive holiday tablescape that is perfect for spreading cheer and creating holiday memories with your children that will last a lifetime!
