Pre-K Farm Themed Lesson Plan
2:07 PMThis past week, I was trying to think of another Fall themed subject that I had not already covered. I went through my books and came across "Who Took The Farmer's Hat?" I liked the lesson on sharing that it offered, and decided to create a farm themed lesson plan around it. It went over well with the kids and we still haven't had any meltdowns. Yay!
Book:
"Who Took the Farmer's Hat" by Joan L. Nodset
Learning Activity:
F is for Farmer worksheet from the pre-k farm pack found here.
Crafts:
We recreated the nest that the red bird makes out of the farmer's brown hat in the book. I cut out hat shapes from brown card stock and let the kids glue on hay, a white fluff ball egg and a colored red bird that I got from here.
We also made sheep out of the kid's handprints. Cut a handprint from black cardstock, turn it upside down and glue on cotton balls, a googly eye and popsicle stick to turn it into a puppet.
Sensory Activity:
I like to have at least one sensory activity in each lesson that lets the kids explore by getting their hands on something. This time I had a farm themed sensory bin. It had dried corn on the bottom, hay on the top, vegetable and fruit foam shapes, plastic farm animals and even a tractor.
Do you have any Fall themed lesson plan ideas? I would love to hear them!
