How I Learned To Cook a Souffle -Top Chef University To-Go App

9:25 AM

I am no grand cook. In fact, I usually try to stay out of the kitchen as much as possible, but ever since I installed the Top Chef University To-Go App onto my iPad 2, I look forward to trying new cooking techniques and recipes. I was approached to try this app, and since I love the Top Chef show, I figured it would be worth a look and maybe I would even learn a little something. I was blown away by the detailed level of information and instruction that is in this app. If you have a desire to learn how to cook better or to try new cooking techniques, then the Top Chef University To-Go App is a perfect choice.

{What's Can You Learn?}

Well, pretty much anything you want to. Top Chef University To-Go has over 200 lessons divided into 20 different cooking courses that are taught by 11 of the most successful Top Chef contestants. Fun, right? The lessons are all done through short, concise videos that show you exactly what to do step by step. This made it easy for me to follow along, and there were no questions left to ask, or no opportunities to goof up a recipe.

You can start out learning the basics. From knife skills, to setting up a pantry and what pots and pans or other kitchen equipment to invest in, the Top Chef University To-Go app walks you through everything you need to set yourself up for success in the kitchen. Check out a portion of the knife skills basics video below.

Do you know how to braise something? Yeah, I didn't have a clue. Until I downloaded this app that is. Along with basics in the kitchen, they teach you various cooking techniques as well, including braising, confit, frying, broiling, roasting and so much more!

I know, I know, that is all fine and good, but the basics are kind of boring. Don't worry, there are plenty of delicious and challenging recipes to try out too. I adore Chinese food, and was so thrilled to see that they have courses designated to different ethnic foods.

First things first though. Me being me, of course I would open the app and decide that I needed to try out one of the most difficult recipes. See, I have always wanted to try and make a souffle, but I had no idea how. Luckily, there is a handy little lesson on how to do just that in the Top Chef University To-Go App. So this is going to be the first recipe I try out. Keep your eye on Twitter for my photo to see whether I pass or fail!
