Sun and Fun at Tradewinds Island Grand on St. Pete Beach
12:42 PMWe were provided with accommodations for the purpose of review, but all words and opinions are my own.
Florida has some amazing beaches, and as a Florida native, I have been to many. One that I have never been to though, is St. Pete Beach. So, when I got the opportunity to pack up the boys and head to the Tradewinds Island Grand Resort on St. Pete Beach, you bet I jumped at the chance. Sitting right on the white sands of the beach, the resort could not be in a more convenient location. We woke up each morning and were only steps away from paradise, with front row seats to the nightly renowned St. Pete Beach sunsets!
{The Room}
The Tradewinds Island Grand Resort just completed a $20 million renovation that included all of the guest rooms and suites. What does this mean? It means that the rooms are gorgeous! We were given a two bedroom tropical view suite, and from the moment we walked in, we were transported to an exotic location. In fact, with the renovation, the theme of the guest rooms was the West Indies. From the sunny colored walls, to the unique travertine flooring and custom-made dark wood furniture, these rooms definitely make you feel like you are lost in a tropical paradise.
The two bedroom suite is 800 sq. feet of comfort with plush pillow top mattresses and new bedding. The room featured two beds as you entered the suite, and then a separate bedroom with two queen sized beds, as well as its own mini fridge, sink and bathroom. A second bathroom was located in the hallway leading back to the living room with a small dining set, third flat screen TV, kitchen area, and balcony. With the pull-out couch, that meant everyone had their own bed and there was no fighting about who was to sleep with whom.
The full-sized refrigerator, sink, dishes and microwave served us well during our stay and saved us a bundle. The balcony not only gave us a great view of the sunsets each night, but also helped with drying our swimsuits. Don't need so much room? No worries, there are several different accommodations options, including standard guest rooms.
{Amenities and Fun!}
Where do I begin? There is so much to do at the Tradewinds Island Grand Resort, and it's definitely a one-stop vacation spot. There are a wide range of dining options available from quick pick-ups like Pizza Hut to fine dining at Bermuda's Steak and Seafood. We ate at the Flying Bridge (you must try their conch fritters and fish tacos) as well as Beef O' Brady's within the resort during our stay and all the food was delicious and well priced.
For children, your resort amenities fee will get you a ton of included activities. There are five heated pools located throughout the resort. The boys spent a lot of time at the pool, and I loved that the one we chose was beachfront. There is a full kid's activities calendar that has crafts, games and other activities to keep your little ones busy during your stay too, not to mention the KONK Activities Center, where you can pay games, paint, draw or check out their saltwater aquarium.
The boys had the most fun at the High Tides Water Slide and the Splash Island Water Park. Sadly, we did not get to try the paddle boats, but they looked like a ton of fun, and Red Beards' Pirate Show was a great treat on our last night at the resort.
We could have stayed at the Island Grand Beach Resort on St. Pete Beach for at least a week and never have been bored. As it was, during our two night stay we barely touched the available amenity options. If you are looking for a great family-friendly place to stay on St. Pete Beach, you could not choose a better resort than this one. Room rates vary depending on accommodation type and time of the year you visit, but for current rates and specials, you can visit the Tradewinds Island Grand Resort site.
