Alabama Gold Camp - Day 1-3
9:53 AM
Alabama Gold Camp Office
There are high bankers available for rent and they bring up piles of dirt for you to use from the creek bed. We chose just to buy some pans and do some panning, since we are just in it for fun.
Joshua panned for gold the longest and found a few flakes. The others lost interest quickly.
There were some great skipping rocks and this became a favorite activity for the boys quickly.
Then Jayden decided he was Heman and was going to try and skip this rock.
It didn't really work, but he was determined.
There are no defined campsites at Alabama Gold Camp, you can basically setup your tent anywhere you like around the creek. We set ours up in a spot away from the high bankers and dirt piles and across from the lower restrooms, because this mom can only be so far from some semblance of a toilet. Hey, roughing it only goes so far with me. :) Our campsite was also right next to this cute old water tower.
{Visitor Information}
Alabama Gold Camp is located in Lineville, AL. and has a rate of $5 per night for primitive tent camping. Water is available at the front office for filling and restrooms with flush toilets and bathhouses are available in several locations. There are also full RV hook-ups available and cabins too. The fee for panning is $5 per person per day, but ages 11 and under are free.

that sucks about the rain but hey, it's all about the adventure isn't it?! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I would totally set up within eyesight of a restroom too. The boys skipping those rocks makes me want to do it too!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a fun place! Sorry your trip got off to a rainy start.

ReplyDeleteMy Thoughts for Thought
I think your trip is such a fabulous idea. The boys look like they're having an amazing time already! I can't wait to read the next post.
ReplyDeleteWe primitive camped all the time when I was a child so it's weird that I'm such a princess about camping now. I haven't been in years and I can't handle not having my own bathroom and kitchen. I've become a wimp! Enjoy your adventure, it is a wonderful thing for your family.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so fun. I wish we had something like it around here, but the closest are in New Hampshire & even those don't have panning or anything, just wander around and see if you can find something... lame.
