How Do You Stay Motivated?

7:16 AM

This is the post where I admit my recent failure, where I stomp my feet like a two year old toddler and scream "But it's just not fair!" I know, get over it right? It isn't that easy though and staying motivated with this fight against weight loss is so stinking hard. Yes, I said fight, because that is exactly what it is. A fight, every single day. A fight against what I want and what I definitely shouldn't have. So, since I have been off the weight loss bandwagon for nearly the last month, I am finding it hard to get motivated to get back on. I hate that bandwagon, but unfortunately I hate being fat even more.

{Why Does it Have to Be So Hard?}

As you all know, I am a Shaklee 180 blogger. For the first month, I rocked the program out and lost six pounds. Since then? I have lost nothing. I guess I should be happy that I haven't gained. Of course, it isn't Shaklee's fault, because I haven't really be following the plan. Why? I don't know. I think for me, I get sick of not having what I want. I see a bunch of skinny women sitting around a table loading up on cheese fries and carb loaded pasta and I think, "Why shouldn't I be able to have that too?" So I give myself permission to have one meal, and that one meal turns into weeks and weeks of meals.

Now, let me explain that I do not go stuffing my face at every meal. I'm not scarfing down donuts, cookies, or endless bags of chips. Have I been eating as good as I could have and following the Shaklee 180 program? No. Have I been severely overeating? No, hence the lack of weight gain. I just don't understand why it has to be so hard. I have struggled with my weight my entire adult life and frankly, I am so sick of it. I wish someone could tell me the magic formula, because I have done the healthy eating and exercise and watched the scale sit still. So, what do I have to do?

{Motivation}

This is where you all come in. I am committed to getting back on track with Shaklee 180 starting today. I will eat my healthy dinners and have my smoothee for breakfast and lunch. What do I need from you? Motivation! What do you do to stay motivated? How do you push ahead when your weight comes to a standstill or you get jealous of how little others have to do to stay thin? Let me have it!

This is a sponsored post as part of the Shaklee Corporation blogger program. I have received free products, online support and incentives for participating. My opinions are my own. People following the weight-loss portion of the Shaklee 180™ Program can expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week.

  2. That would be great Paula. I really do want to change, so you would think it would be easy to stay on track, but it just isn't.

  3. I have lost about 14 lbs using a different program, but I'm having trouble this past week myself.. I am motivated but I'm also just hungry. It sucks.

  4. This might sound ridiculous, but I keep a picture of when I was thin on my fridge. I know... it's silly, but it works! That visual reminder keeps me in check.

  5. It isn't silly at all Ashley, but I am not sure I even have a picture of when I was thin. Honestly, I have maybe been not overweight possibly a year of two of my adult life and that's it. The rest has just been a struggle.

  8. I hear you, Kathleen. I followed the plan and ... I still gained a pound this last month. It sorta sucks, but my motivation is long term. And in the short term, if I know I'm going to be writing down exactly what I eat, I found that I am so much more careful! Good luck, and welcome back!

  9. You can do what ashley does or you can use the picture of your favorite star or model whose figure you like for motivation. If you saw a really nice dress but didn't buy it because of weight issues then use that as a motivation.. for me, just imagining the reaction of old friends when they see the "new" me works as a great motivational tool!

  16. you can do it. It's mind over matter. atleast that is what they say. I say nothing worth having is always worth struggling to get. Because its the reward that will bring you to satisfaction.

  17. I felt sorry for what did go through on you especially on the weight loss part. Motivation is really a big thing to consider, and just to share, I keep mine on track by not allowing myself to think of something else to distract me away from my goals.

  24. Don't ask me I have been dreadfully unmotivated the past few weeks. Maybe I'll do another diet bet. Those motivate me because I'm thick headed and the thought of admitting I failed, just doesn't fly with me.

  26. I totally suck at staying motivated, but the only thing that has worked for me is thinking about my kids and how I would like to be around when they get older.

  27. You know I struggle with this too - The other day I really wanted to stop my Whole30 and have pizza. It was an emotional reaction to a hard day Instead I started cleaning and going through my clothes. I put on a pair of jeans I haven't worn since pre pregnancy and that was enough to keep me motivated to keep going!

  30. I do the same thing all the time- I maintain my {too high} weight because I don't scarf down junk, but even though I eat healthy food I eat too much of it. Sigh.
