A Run In With the Dark Side at LEGOLAND Florida
8:01 PMIn June of last year my oldest son drug my 8 month pregnant behind to LEGOLAND and we had a blast. So, when I knew I was taking the boys to Orlando for Spring Break, I decided we had to stop by so the others could enjoy its awesomeness. From the moment you walk through the front gates, LEGOLAND is simply fun! From the small details like a LEGO squirrel perched atop a building to the amazing LEGO displays, thrilling rides and mesmerizing shows, this is definitely a park that will keep you smiling the whole time you're there.
{Exploring the LEGO Lands}
LEGOLAND Florida is divided into various lands or sections. Miniland USA is the heart and soul of the park, with its themes displays. Millions of LEGOs are artfully designed to look like some of the most popular sites around the United States and world. There was even a display if Tallahassee, FL., which really made the boys light up since that is where we live.
New right now is a Star Wars Miniland addition, with key scenes from the movies constructed of LEGOs, including a life-sized Darth Vader and R2D2. Jordan was in heaven here, since he is obsessed with the Star Wars series.
Other themed lands include DUPLO Village for the little ones, LEGO Kingdoms where you can fight dragons and cast magical spells, the Land of Adventure where you hunt for buried treasure, LEGO Technic where you can ride on high tech contraptions, LEGO City where kids can learn to drive a boat or car and the Imagination Zone where kids can build and let their imaginations roam free.
While other theme parks cater to either the very young or the older children, LEGOLAND has a unique balance that creates a place where the whole family can participate and play together. Add in free 4D movie shown at the theater throughout the day and captivating shows where life-sized minifigs do battle and you have yourself the perfect place to play.
{The LEGOLAND Water Park}
As if the theme park itself did not have enough for you to do, for a small up charge you can also gain access to the LEGOLAND Florida Water Park. With a lazy river that lets you build your own raft with huge LEGO blocks as you float along, to a Splash Out slides that boast 60 foot drops, you can cool off from the Florida heat here. When we visited, it was pretty darn cool, but the boys insisted on visiting the water park, so we did. We had a blast, but the water sure was chilly. The slides were the most fun this adult has had in a very long time and Jordan was brave enough to go down the slide with the 60 foot drop, even though I thought for sure he would chicken out.
{Coming Soon}
If you've been to LEGOLAND Florida before, you will soon have a reason to return. Coming this summer, The World of Chima presented by Cartoon Network will feature a thrilling water ride, The Quest for CHI, a new 4D movie and a Speedorz Arena where you can compete.
{Tickets}
You can purchase tickets from the LEGOLAND Florida site, starting at $64 adult and $56 children Pick A Day tickets. Keep your eyes peeled though, as discounts and specials can often be found. LEGOLAND Florida is also offering free one time single day admission to the LEGOLAND park and seasonally the water park to active duty Military personnel.
Have you been to LEGOLAND Florida? What was your favorite part?
