SEO for Blogger - How to SEO Individual Posts in Blogger

SEO in Blogger

A lot of bloggers like myself like the easy of using Blogger. Unfortunately, the SEO is not nearly as good as it is for self hosted Wordpress blogs. That is until now. In case you were living under a rock like me and were unaware, there is now a way to enable you to SEO individual posts on Blogger. The best part, you don't have to mess with any code and it takes only a few seconds to implement.

 Step 1: Login to your Blogger account and click "settings" from the sidebar menu for your blog.

Step 2: Choose "search preferences" from below the "settings" menu on the left side of the screen. On the page that comes up, choose "edit" next to the "description" option in the "Meta Tags" section. Change your preference to "yes" to enable search engine descriptions and fill in a meta description for your blog.

Step 3: Now that you have enabled a meta tag description for your blog, when you go in to create a new post, you will see a "search description" option on the right side of the screen where you can provide a search description for each individual post.

See, easy as can be. I am so happy to have finally figured this one out and hopefully it will help some other people who didn't know this feature existed.

    Yay Leah! I didn't see it either. Who knows how long it has been there. I felt kind of dumb doing this post because I figured I may be the only person who didn't noticed, but now I am glad I did it if it helped someone else!

    OMG I could kiss you right now. I have been wavering about going to WP even though I tried the second blog there and seriously can't figure that shit out. OMG I am taking the move idea off the table for now and going to set some goals on SEOing on Blogger! THANK YOU THANKYOU. I totally missed this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    So glad I could help Lisa! Somehow I had no idea you were even on Blogger LOL. I have some blogs on Wordpress and I like it well enough, I am just afraid of moving this one and losing my PR and everything else I have worked so hard for.

    Courtney, when you go to enable the meta tagging in step 2, it will have a box where you can put the meta description for your entire site. So, in that box you would put a description of your site.

    Then, when you go to create a new post, there will always be a search description box in each post creation screen as shown in the photo in step 3 for you to put a post description in.
