Sweet Teriyaki Pork Crockpot Recipe
9:00 PMWhen I decided to do this 25 meals in 4 1/2 hours series I knew I wanted to mix it up with different meats that we don't usually eat. I am a huge fan of chicken and so we usually default to a lot of chicken meals, but I decided to give pork a try this time. This sweet teriyaki pork crockpot recipe was so good. The only problem I had was that I wish I had more. There were absolutely no leftovers when we were done and the boys were still begging for more. It's that good!
Ingredients:
2-3 lbs boneless pork chops cut into small pieces.
1 medium onion sliced
1 cup light brown sugar
2 tsp. garlic
1 tsp. ginger
1/4 cup water
Step 1: After chopping the meat into bite sized pieces add it and all the ingredients to a gallon sized freezer bag.
Step 2: Freeze and then defrost in fridge the night before serving. Cook on high for 4 hours. Serve over rice with veggies.

ReplyDeleteOh man, this is in my future!
ReplyDeleteis it two 2 cups of brown sugar?
ReplyDelete1 cup of brown sugar is listed twice? Typo?
ReplyDeleteCan I cook it on high for 8 hours?
ReplyDeleteCarolina, I would not cook it on high for 8 hours. While it likely would not burn, it would become extremely dry.
ReplyDeleteCould I cook this on low for 8 or 10 hours? I know that might be pushing it...
ReplyDeleteYou could Erin, but the only issue is that it may come out pretty dry. It is always better to cook at the highest temp for the shortest about of time to keep the moisture in the meat.
ReplyDeleteMy husband doesn't eat pork, can I substitute chicken instead? If so, how would that effect the cooking time?
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I don't see why you couldn't, but I would leave the chicken whole and not use chunks, as chicken tends to dry out easily. You can always cut it later. The cooking time shouldn't change, but you can always check it with a meat thermometer to be sure.
ReplyDeleteThat was delicious. Thank you! Did this for dinner tonight without the ginger and I will be making it again!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you liked it! It is definitely one of our favorites!
ReplyDeleteThis smelled amazing. I was fearful that it wasn't enough for my family of 6 (including 4 ravenous sons), but it turned out not to be a problem. Because they wouldn't eat it. I didn't think it was too fantastic, but they flat out refused to eat it. They complained that it was much too sweet. I guess I agree...
ReplyDeleteThank you, though, for getting me to think outside the box on freezer cooking. I've got a few ideas now, thanks to this blog.
Oh my gosh, I love teriyaki, and this looks so good!
