BlackBerry PlayBook - The Perfect Tool for Back to School + Giveaway

11:43 PM

School has been back in session here for a few weeks now and my oldest headed off to middle school this year. Wait, did I just write that? Ugh. I can't believe I have a child in 6th grade. School is nothing like it was when I was younger. There seems to be so much more to keep up with now and to top it all off, there is a strong focus on technology as well. That is where the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE comes in. We were given the chance to review it, and it has proven itself to be quite the handy tool in keeping Joshua's schedule, assignments and notes in order for school. Check it out...

{About the BlackBerry PlayBook}

"The powerful and ultra-portable BlackBerry PlayBook combines convenient and portable size with multifaceted functionality, making the reasonably priced tablet a great option for both students and teachers dedicated to maximizing productivity while on-the-go. The 7-inch tablet is small enough to fit in a backpack or purse, while the high-definition screen offers study-break entertainment or last-minute in-class tutorials.
 Like the best educators, the BlackBerry PlayBook’s multi-tasking capabilities support several activities at a time, and the BlackBerry PlayBook comes preloaded with a full documents suite for easy editing and document creation."
{From a Student's Perspective}

Joshua loved having a new electronic device to play around with, but aside from that, it has really helped him get organized which is a big problem we have had in the past. He can organize notes, keep track of homework assignments in the "My Class Schedule" app I downloaded from the huge app selection, and can even record a class session to take notes later if needed. Here is a short video he did discussing the different ways he uses the PlayBook.

{From a Parent's Point of View}

I'd be lying if I said I never used the BlackBerry PlayBook myself. Parents have to have some fun too right? I never thought anything would come close to the iPad for me. I had tried other tablets in the past and they were all sort of a disappointment. I have to tell you though, I prefer the PlayBook over the iPad 100% now. Yes, it is smaller at only 7 inches, but there are so many awesome things about it and it is so much easier to operate and navigate.

You can multitask and have many different programs open at once. It is a simple swipe of your hand to move between program, windows, etc. The keyword is smaller, but just as easy to type on and there is an actual document program.

You can actually create documents, spreadsheets and even edit Power Point presentations right from the tablet. I could never do that on the iPad. Another cool feature is the Print to Go application. You can actually send documents, etc. straight from your computer to the PlayBook.

It syncs up all my contact's information, allows me to have my email accounts all in one place and perhaps my favorite feature is the ability to put different apps into folders! You can actually nest apps together for a cleaner screen view. The Internet surfing is super fast and I have yet to find an app that was not available in the huge selection in the PlayBook's App World.

The camera on the PlayBook could not be more perfect either and is great for when I am out on blog events or family outings and don't want to drag along the DSLR. It has a 5 MP rear and 3 PM front facing camera, and even shoots HD videos!

Then of course, there is the fact that I absolutely love that it can help my child with school. Okay, truthfully I really want to steel it for myself.

{Buy It}

Are you itching to get your hands on the BlackBerry PlayBook? The PlayBook can be purchased online for as little as $199, and is available in 16, 32 and 64 GB's.

{Win It}

I can't believe I am about to say this, but one of you lucky Life With 4 Boys readers is going to win a BlackBerry PlayBook of your very own! How insanely awesome is that?

  4. This Playbook sounds wonderful. There's a number of features that I really like. I like that you can multi-task and switch between screens. I like the print to go, the camera and internet access. Honestly, we've been looking into different devices for our kids for their school and this one sounds very interesting and much more reasonable than an iPad.
    Thanks for this giveaway.

  5. I have 3 kids with ADHD, the oldest in 7th grade. His difficulty with organization, focus and attention make school very stressful. I love that he could record a class to reference when attention problems interfere with his ability to get everything the teacher says the first time. And keeping track of assignments would be a snap! What a great way to use a tablet, and what a great tool the Playbook is! Thanks for the review!

With my iPad I find that not having this function can be really frustrating and limiting, especially when I'm trying to do things for school. I'd rather carry around a lighter tablet device than my laptop to accomplish these tasks at college.
