I am not a fashionista and have never claimed to be. However, I have been trying to freshen up my look and get a little more girly lately. Late last week, I had the pleasure of stopping by my local Tallahassee Dilliard's, to receive a complimentary "makeunder" from the Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals makeup counter. I had no idea that Bare Minerals was in Dilliard's previously, so when I found out they were, I jumped at the chance to try their product. I have been secretly lusting after it online for years.
{A Little About Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals}
Just in case you have been living under a rock somewhere (it happens) and have never heard of Bare Minerals, let me give you a little input. Bare Minerals is by Bare Escentuals and they are one in the same, not two separate brands like I had originally thought. Their products are all natural and healthy for your skin. They are light sheer and can actually help to heal your skin overtime as well.
{My Makeunder Experience}
At Bare Minerals by Bare Escentuals, they do not call it a makeover, they call it a makeunder. This is because the goal is to bring out your natural beauty not mask it, and in my case at least it honestly feels like you are not wearing makeup at all.
The woman who did my makeunder was a beauty ambassador named Lili. She was a-maz-ing. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She is a fabulous and bubbly person and her love and knowledge of the products definitely spilled over. By the end of my makeunder, I wanted to put her in my purse and take her home. I doubt my makeup will ever look as good as when she did it, but I am trying. You can see how cute she is in the picture above!
I sat down for my makeunder and Lili carefully went over each step. She took the time to try out different products and find the ones that were a perfect match for my skin type and tone. Everything at Bare Minerals is customized to fit you and there is no one size fits all type approach here. Lili did not just go through the motions of putting on the makeup either, she spent time to really educate me about how best to apply it and how to get the look I wanted.
The photo above is of my face half done. See what an amazing job the Bare Minerals makeup does of evening out the skin tone and covering blemishes? The difference really is amazing and it is not heavy or cakey at all. In fact, it feels like you have nothing on.
Here is the before and after photo. In the before I was wearing absolutely no makeup. Scary I know. Imagine what my poor boys say when they have to see mommy without makeup ever day. The after is remarkable. I fell instantly in love and am not ashamed to say that for the first time in my life, I dropped some serious cash on makeup. It lasts forever, is silky smooth and I cannot say enough great things about it.
I will do an individual vlog of my favorite products in the near future, but wanted to mention the Moxie lip glosses. These are fantastic and I have purchased three colors already. They give a minty cool feel to your lips, moisturize and do not wear off quickly like other lip glosses do. There was just a new Supernaturals line launched and the colors are fabulous for getting that perfect fresh summer look! I'd like to try it because I have been using Cover Girl cosmetics. They must have changed their ingredients because now I break out from it. I hear this line is really good, not only for evening out skin color, which I need, but also it's kind to your skin and doesn't cause breakouts.
