The Angry Bird Cake That Made Me Cry
6:46 AMHonestly, do not attempt a cake you have never made before when you are almost 7 months pregnant. For my mom's birthday, I could not decide on a theme for her cake. Finally, I remembered how much she loves to play Angry Birds so I did some scoping around for ideas online. I eventually mashed together a few different things I found and the cake was born. Sort of. One of the layers fell apart so I had to toss it out. Then, there was a fold in the fondant on the side because I rolled it too large, so I covered it with icing. Last, cutting out the tail literally brought me to tears. I had no trouble cutting out the other shapes, but when it came to the tail I must have made a dozen attempts and they all tore. After a few tears of frustration, a tail was achieved and the cake turned out pretty good. My mom was happy and the boys thought it was great, so that's all that really matters.

You did a great job on the cake!
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me? That cake looks great. Very professional looking. You should be proud of the job you did.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anne. I am, but the process drove me crazy. Thank goodness I only have to make a few each year. Last year I made her a red hat society cake and that one was much easier. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that! Its my favorite game!

ReplyDeleteI remember making a birthday cake for my daughter's first birthday. I wanted it to be perfect but the first one fell apart like you said yours did. I threw it away and baked another one. It turned out I just hadn't let it cool long enough before frosting it. Live and learn. Your cake looks great. But as they say, the proof is in the eating. I'm sure your mother loved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it took awhile to get there but it really does look great!! You can tell she loved it too!
