10 Things Your Mom Said That You Swore You Never Would
10:31 AMYou know when you were younger and your mom would say something and the first thing that crossed your mind was "I will never say that to my kids when I grow up." Yeah well, it seems that what goes around comes around in the circle of parenting and more often than not, we find ourselves uttering those forbidden phrases that we swore we never would. I had some help from some blogging friends putting together a list of things that your mom said that you swore you never would, but that you now find yourself saying to your own children.
1. "Stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about!" - Rhea from OhRheally.com
2. "If it's still on the floor when I come back, it's going in the garbage!" - Cat from FoodFamilyFinds.com
3. "Can you stop talking for just a bit my ears are tired." - Brittany from SouthernBritt.com
4. "As long as you live under my roof, you'll follow my rules." Tammy from ThreeDifferentDirections.com
5. "Fight nice children."
6. "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."
7. "Jeeminy Fuzzballs" - I do not know if this is spelled right, because it is a made up word my mom used to say when she is mad. Now, I say it to my kids all the time.
8. "Do you want to cry in my hand?" - My mom used to say this and I would get so mad, but now I do it to my boys lol.
9. "Do as you're told!" - from Heather at HometoHeather.com
10. "Because I said so." - from Cheryl at BeautifulSideofHectic.com

ReplyDeleteOh yea, been there!
ReplyDeleteI've absolutely said a few of those things!
ReplyDeleteYou're making me hate my mom. ;)
ReplyDeleteSo true!
ReplyDeleteHahah very true!
ReplyDeleteLOL! so true, all of them!
ReplyDelete"You have to suffer to be beautiful." man I HATED it when she said that... and yet... every morning when I brush their hair... there I go saying it myself!
ReplyDeleteSo funny. I am a grandma, so I get to hear my daughter with her kids. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh man I have said most of them at one time or another!
ReplyDeleteOne, three and four are so me!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I say these often!
ReplyDeleteNumber 2 is definitely me. I have had to say this with all four of my kids. Oh and because I said so, lol
ReplyDeleteLOL I say most of these too.
ReplyDeleteLOL I say the majority of those every day it seems like! I'm definitely guilty of if you don't stop crying I'll give you something to cry about... my poor children.
ReplyDeleteLove it! I turn more & more into my mom every day. I caught myself saying one of her rules the other day: "Make a path." I was always messy when I was a kid so as long as I left a path for her to walk without stepping on toys, it was all good. Apparently, the same goes for my two year old :)
ReplyDeleteJeeminy Fuzzballs ?? LOL I am so going to use that when I want to cuss!
ReplyDeleteLoved meeting you Kathleen, I hope I get to hang out with you again in the future.
I hated the Mother's Curse.
ReplyDeleteYour kids are going to be twice as bad as you, so you'd better be good.
Didn't work though :P My kids are way better behaved than I was. I think SHE had the mother's curse come through on her, I was probably twice as bad as her, lol! So now my slate is clean :D
I won't every ever tell my kids that though.
I hate it when I catch myself saying something I swore that I wouldn't
