Since Jordan was formally diagnosed with a learning disability earlier this year, I have been on the hunt for the best reading resources out there. Having a child that struggles so much with reading can be frustrating and it can be hard to know how to help them. The list below is a compilation of reading resources that you can use to give your child extra help and attention in the area they need it most.


Reading Rockets

This site is behind the "Launching Young Readers" series on PBS. There are videos, tutorials and in-depth tips on how you can help your children excel in reading. They specifically address those with children who have dyslexia and other learning disabilities.

BAB Books

On this website, you will find a variety of online books that are free to flip through and read. This is a great resource when you have exhausted the books on your own shelves and can't make it to the library.

Printable Reading Games

While this site isn't the prettiest or easiest to navigate, it does have a ton of printable reading and phonics games that can help make reading practice a lot more fun for your child. There are literally dozens of valuable resources on this site!

Starfall

Starfall.com is one of the most amazing reading resources for children on the Internet. They are especially useful for younger grades or students with disabilities who want to self navigate. There are different sections that house materials and activities according to a child's reading level and kids can perform most of these on their own.

Seussville

If you are looking for a fun and interactive way for your child to fit in some learning time, then Seussville is a great alternative. This site is dedicated to information, games and activities surrounding the popular Dr. Seuss books. Many of the games on this site can help with reading skills such as rhyming.
