Skoy Cloth Review and Giveaway (2 Winners!)

1:13 AM

As featured on this months cover of Women's Day magazine, Skoy Cloth is an amazing little product that packs quite a mighty punch. I was recently given the opportunity to test these cleaning cloths for myself and I was more than a little impressed. In many ways, my preconceptions about this product were proven wrong and I can honestly say that I am likely to continue using Skoy Cloths in the months and years to come.

{About the Company}

Owned and  by two women, Michelle and Karen decided to start the Skoy Cloth business and bring Michelle's European born idea to the US after her move here. The idea was to provide a way for consumers to eliminate the use of the 2.5 million tons of paper towels they were sending to the landfill each year.

The Skoy factory employs green methods of disposal and recycling in the creation of their all-natural products and the safety of the environment is always their focus.

{In Their Words}

"Skoy cloth is a fabulous, absorbent, biodegradable and natural multi-use cloth. Our re-usable earth friendly cloth is perfect in your kitchen, bathroom, and on most surface areas in your home or office. Skoy cloth can be used in place of your sponge, wash cloth or paper towels.

It is a European made product and 100% biodegradable because it is made from a natural cotton and wood-based cellulose pulp. SKOY cloth is a chlorine-free product using water-based colors and inks. After an independent composting test, SKOY cloth broke down completely within 5 weeks."

{My Take}

When I first opened the package that contained my Skoy Cloths, the first thing that went through my head was how much larger they were than I had expected. I don't know why, but I had pictured them to be about the size of a sponge or index card and they are actually much larger. In fact, they are bigger than even two sponges put together and can hold up to 15X their weight in liquid. In comparison, a microfiber sponge can only hold up to 7X its weight in liquid.

The second thing that really threw me for a loop was how thick and soft they were. I expected something a little thicker than a paper towel, but not as thick as a dish cloth. When Skoy Cloths are damp. they are thicker than any other dish cloth I have ever used and they do not break apart or peel when you scrub with them like most sponges or those eraser products. The cloths are stiff when dry, but soft enough to wipe little hands and mouths when damp.

As I was testing these cloths out, I found that while I can intentionally rip a wet Skoy cloth, it is not an easy task to accomplish and through both rough and smooth surfaces, with or without cleaner and thick dirt and grime, the cloths did not once start to fall apart, pill, or lose their usefulness. I scrubbed sinks, bathtubs, children, wiped up spills, cleaned couters and even washed my car with Skoy Cloths (not in that order or with the same cloth) and there is not a single negative I could report.

One Skoy Cloth can take the place of up to 15 rolls of paper towels in a normal household. In mine, it is most definitely more, as we would go through paper towels like they were water. This is one little thing you can change in your own home that could have a huge impact on the environment while saving you money, and that is right up my alley. All I had to do to get my Skoy Cloth to look like new again, was slip it into the washing machine with a load of laundry. They say one cloth will last 5 weeks, but I believe it can go much longer.

{Buy It}

If you want to try this product out for yourself, they are sold in a cute little four pack for only $6.99. I tried the four color inspirational message four pack and loved the little sayings that brightened my day, but they also come in flowers designs and many different shades. You can visit the Skoy Cloth website to make a purchase.
